Illinois @ Penn State previewFighting Illini look to for second straight win over Penn State
The 2-1 Fighting Illini head to University Park to begin their conference season against the 4-0 Nittany Lions. No one is blowing their opponents out by a bigger margin in the country than Penn State. The Illini have had two weeks to prepare for this game coming off of a narrow win against Louisiana-Lafayette. Penn State will have revenge on their minds after losing last year in Champaign 27-20. This game could be of the shootout variety as these 2 teams come in averaging a combined 89.1 points per game.
The key match-up in this ball game will be whether or not the Illini D-line can get any pressure in the Penn State backfield. So far, the Illini defense has not looked as good as advertised and the Nittany Lions are scoring points all over the place. The Illini will probably get a look at 2 different guys in blue and white under center. Daryll Clark should get the most reps but we could also see Sophomore, Pat Devlin. However, it may be the ground game the bothers the Illini. Penn State’s top 2 tailbacks already have combined for nearly 700 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns. Illinois will have their work cut out for them and I foresee Penn State regaining some of their swagger back. #12 Penn State 35 - #22 Illinois 21
