2010 Michigan Wolverines Football Schedule
Michigan fans, prepare for another wild ride this season and better results. Sure, the team is still young and Coach Rich Rodriguez has struggled in his career at Michigan, but the times they are a-changin’ as Bob Dylan would say. I am going to come out and say it, 8-4. That’s right, a winning season. Last year Michigan started off 5-0 and I see the same scenario this year. Connecticut will be a very tough game, but the home crowd at the Big House should have a big impact. This game could go either way, since UCONN is a very worthy opponent and is a team that fights until the end. Notre Dame lost Jimmy Clausen and Golden Tate, who were very integral parts of the offense. So, I see that game going in favor of Michigan. After all, Michigan stunned them last year even when they were a National Champion prediction by Lou Holtz. Playing in South Bend will be more difficult than having the Ann Arbor crowds, but look for a solid showing by the Wolverines. Massachusetts is a schedule joke game. It is nowhere near as bad as scheduling Delaware St., but it is still a mediocre matchup. Bowling Green is another small school game and Michigan should ride to victory. Indiana was a tough win last year as Michigan won on a late TD catch to Martavious Odoms, but Michigan should pick up the W.
So Michigan is sitting 5-0 yet again, only this year I do not see a 0-7 finish. The schedule does get difficult with the Big Ten bulk coming in, but Michigan State at home will be a good game. Last year was a thriller, and this year should be too. I give the edge to Michigan since they are on the home field of Michigan Stadium. 6-0. Iowa at home, sorry Big House, edge to Iowa. Michigan’s inexperience will start to kick in and the team needs to have a loss at this point. 6-1. Make it 6-2. Penn State in Happy Valley is a loss. JoePa continues to make it work even though he is pushing a hundred years old. The next two games are the easier Big Ten opponents, Illinois and Purdue. Both teams struggled last year except for the Purdue win over Ohio St. That was a stunning victory. I would not expect any crazy win like that in 2010. Michigan moves to 8-2. Are they in the hunt for a Big Ten championship? Sadly, no. The consistent Wisconsin Badgers and dreaded rivals from Columbus sit in the final two game slots of the season. Wisconsin will be a very good team again and the Buckeyes will continue the streak against Michigan. The Wolverines will compete in both games this year with these teams, so block out the schedule to cheer on the Wolverines, maybe we will see a glorious upset. 8-4. Formidable? I would say it is getting there and the right season that the Michigan Wolverines need for the doubters to gain some faith in Rich Rodriguez and the football team. A bowl game will make fans very happy. The road to resurrection of the all-time leader in games won truly starts in 2010. Be prepared to watch a team start to grow and begin to impress in 2010 especially with a big improvement in the Big Ten Conference schedule. So, cheers to the 2010 Michigan Wolverines Football schedule and Go Blue!
