Big Ten Football Expansion

With all the reports coming out about whose coming and going to the Big Ten, my mind can barley decipher the true and false information, so after watching, reading, and listening about conference reconstruction, I’ve come up with two theories.

Sir Adam’s 1st theory on Big Ten Reconstruction: The first one is rather simple; I believe that Nebraska alone will join the Big Ten. Is this good for the Big Ten though? Now we get our conference championship game, but we’d need to split up the conference into two divisions. Meaning rivalries like Michigan State and Penn State would more than likely get split up (as long as Michigan and Ohio state stay together I’m fine.) And to be completely honest, what sports are Nebraska good at? The past few years they’ve been average too below in football, and I don’t think they’ve been good in basketball for a long while. The idea really only solves one problem, Football gets a conference championship game, other than that, nothing.

Sir Adam’s 2nd theory on Big Ten Reconstruction: CONFERENCE EXPLOSION! Apparently, the Big Ten is interested in becoming an uber conference with 16 teams. Of course, nobody is really saying what the other 5 teams to join would be. My guess would be: Nebraska, Missouri, Rutgers, Texas, and Pittsburgh. Nebraska and Missouri seem rather obvious. If Rutgers leaves though, I think Notre Dame is backed into a corner and are forced too join the Big East. Texas is thinking of leaving, which is completely idiotic in my opinion, so why not? Pittsburgh would also realize that with Rutgers gone the Big East will falter. This would be a real shock, but I pieced this together as best as I can.

Conclusions: I’m not saying that this WILL happen, all I’m saying is that these seem the most likely, of course, there always could be a mix and match between these two. Like just Missouri and Nebraska joining (which would make 13 teams, so no conference championship??) Aaah! My brain hurts, this is all way too confusing, so I leave you with one final thought:

Will the Big Ten keep there name? Or be called something else?
