Bucks Win Again, Expected to be Named No. 1How do you get to the National Championship game in College Football? Well...you basically win all your games, and then hope the teams previously ranked above you lose. It's as simple as that. Obviously, it is easier said than done, but nonetheless, that concept appears to have the Ohio State Buckeyes in the driver seat towards the title game at the halfway point in the season. With a dominating 38-10 victory over the Indiana Hoosiers on Saturday, and an Alabama loss to South Carolina, it is expected the 6-0 Buckeyes will be named the No. 1 team in the nation. If the Bucks are indeed named the No. 1 team, then they definitely have the No. 1 player in quarterback Terrelle Pryor.
Pryor connected on scoring passes spanning 22 yards to Dane Sanzenbacher, 60 yards to Brandon Saine and 17 yards to DeVier Posey as the Buckeyes cruised to their 12th consecutive win. The win was not only special because it could catapult OSU into the top spot, but it was also special because it was head coach Jim Tressel's 100th win as the Bucks field general. Tressel won his 100th at Ohio State in his 121st game, the third-fastest among Big Ten coaches. The game was never in doubt and may have been more dominant than the 28-point victory indicated. While compiling 478 yards on offense, the Bucks defense put in another workmen-like performance holding the Hoosiers offense to just 210 yards, less than half their average of 455 yards a game.
Furthermore, after passing for 480 yards last week against Michigan, Indiana QB Ben Chappell was held to a mere 106 yards passing while the OSU defense picked him off twice. With two conference wins under their belt, perhaps the Bucks biggest test of the season comes next Saturday as they travel to Camp Randall for a battle against the 20th ranked Wisconsin Badgers. When the schedule first came out, everyone immediately circled this game as one that had the potential of deciding the landscape of the entire College Football season. Fast forward to the week of, and that projection seems accurate.
