Iowa Hawkeyes vs Minnesota Golden Gopher Preview

November 21st 12:00 ET

The Hawkeyes will look to bounce back after a devastating loss in Columbus. With a victory Iowa would have won the Big Ten title and secured a spot in the Rose Bowl. In what turned out to be a classic, Iowa lost in overtime 27-24. Backup QB James Vandenberg played well in the loss throwing for 233 yards and connecting on 2 scores. Head Coach Kirk Ferentz’ decision to sit on the ball at the end of the 4th quarter will be questioned for years to come. Despite having solid field position and 2 time outs, Ferentz sat on the ball.

The 6-5 Golden Gophers escaped with a narrow victory over sub division South Dakota State. QB Adam Weber had a bad performance completing only 10 passes for 94 yards.

Prediction: Despite the heartbreaking loss, Iowa will bounce back in front of the home faithful. Vandenberg looked impressive against the Buckeyes and should have a big game against a weak Minnesota defense. Minnesota’s offense will pose no threat as the Hawkeyes roll to an easy victory. Iowa 33 Minnesota 10
