Iowa vs. # 5 Penn State Recap
Beaver Stadium was in the midst of a white out; the Iowa Hawkeyes viewed it as a symbol of surrender. Iowa Head Coach Kirk Ferentz continued his mastery of Penn State with a 21-10 victory in front of 109,000 Penn St. supporters. Instead of the revenge they longed for from the upset loss in 2008, the Nittany Lions were served another demoralizing defeat. Iowa out muscled the Penn State Nittany Lions’ offensive line. Iowa put pressure on QB Daryll Clark forcing turnovers and inaccurate throws. Clark finished the night 12 of 32 for 198 yards with only one touchdown and three interceptions. They held Evan Royster to 69 yards rushing. On offense, Ricky Stanzi didn’t play well but freshmen Adam Robinson along with classmate Brandon Wegher combined for 161 yards on the ground. On defense, Iowa held Penn State to a total of 307 net yards. The Hawkeyes also blocked a punt for a score leading to the 21-10 victory. Next Up. Iowa will face Arkansas State in Iowa City.
