Wisconsin Badgers @ Hawaii Warriors Pre Game
The Wisconsin Badgers go into their season finale coming off a heart breaking loss to end their Big Ten schedule against Northwestern. Now, after two weeks of preparation and practice, they take on Hawaii at Hawaii and look to end the season on a strong note. The Badgers, who are 8-3 on the season, fell out of the top 25 team rankings for the first time in their last 3 games. Now they hope to finish their season on a high note and improve their standings with the BCS bowl game invitations. John Clay will sure to have his best game on in Hawaii as he looks to improve on his already very impressive 2009 numbers. Coming into this game, Clay averages 5 yards a carry and has over 1200 yards rushing on the year. He also has 13 touchdowns rushing and a no brainer for first team all Big Ten and a strong consideration for all country behind Mark Ingram of Alabama and Toby Gerhart of Stanford. The Badgers have done an outstanding job of being very balanced this year on offense rushing and passing the ball not only with plays, but with total yards on both sides of the offense aswell. Averaging 198 yards on the ground and 205 yards through the air, Wisconsin has steadily averaged 400 yards of total offense on the year.
After all of the excitement, it will be interesting to see who will come back to next year’s Wisconsin Badgers team. One sure thing is that all Big Ten safety and team captain Chris Maragos will graduate and not be a Badger next year. That is going to be a large gap to fill for the Badgers as not only did Maragos bring great play to the field, he brought intelligence and leadership that will need to be replaced by a returning starter next season. It would appear that this game against the Hawaii Warriors will be heavily in the favor of the Badgers as Hawaii is 6-6 on the year and really have not found themselves as a team for most of the year. Only time will tell if the two week that the Badgers had leading up to this game will help them get over their hangover loss to Northwestern and get them mentally prepared for the bowl season.
