Big Ten football recap - Week #7The Big Ten Football season continued this weekend with 5 conference match-ups and a single non-conference game. I was asked by the staff of BigTen-fans.com to provide a preview, but with my busy schedule I was only able to preview a few of the games. Had it not been for Indiana's upset of Iowa I would have been a perfect 6-0 straight up, but then again who else picked that one! So I guess someone liked my picks because the staff at BigTen-fans.com has asked me to continue each week with "Shull's Selections." While I may not be able to provide in-depth analysis each week, I will try to provide my own picks for every game a Big Ten team is involved in. As always, look to Big Ten Fans for your updated Big Ten football scores andstandings throughout the weekend.
Ohio @ IllinoisOhio extends their streak to 3 straight years with a win over a BCS Conference opponent as they knock off the Fighting Illini on the road 20-17. Shull's Selection was: Ohio 24 - Illinois 23
Purdue @ NorthwesternCurtis Painter threw for 431 yards and the Boilermakers outscored the Wildcats 14-0 in the second half to pull away for a 31-10 victory. Shull's Selection was: Purdue 37 - Northwestern 20
#15 Iowa @ IndianaDid anyone outside the state of Indiana call this one? Did anyone inside the state of Indiana call it? Indiana WR James Hardy caught 3 TD passes in the offensive battle as Indiana upset #15 Iowa by a score of 31-28. Shull's Selection was: Iowa 31 - Indiana 13
Minnesota @ #25 WisconsinI mentioned in my Week #7 Big Ten football preview that both teams had balanced offensive attacks. I also mentioned that I expected a close game. At least I was correct about the offensive balance of Wisconsin; 193 passing yards and 208 rushing yards as they defeated Minnesota 48-12. Shull's Selection was: Wisconsin 33 - Minnesota 28
#1 Ohio State @ Michigan StateI stated that "Michigan State is not very good, and John L. Smith is even worse. Buckeyes roll." Unfortunately my pick gave MSU too much credit on offense as Ohio State rolled 38-7. Shull's Selection was: Ohio State 41 - Michigan State 17
